Howdy guys. Not sure if anyone has any insight into this, but: 2002 7.3 Ex. I bought it with an Edge programmer installed, but not connected via the OBD port. In my discussion with the previous owner, he said the truck wouldn't start each time he tried to install/run the Edge programmer. He gave it to me with the truck and said 'Good luck'. So I shot Edge an e-mail, gave them the unit info and asked if there was a software update, hardware issue or some other reason why the previous owner would have had the crank/no start issue. Their response was 'no issues, but if you do have issues, follow the owners manual section about the no-start after programming and you'll be fine'. So I plugged it in, went 'key-on' and it automatically proceeded to 'upload' to the PCM. Something went wrong, evidently. Crank/No start. So I followed all the steps in the manual repeatedly, including disconnecting both batteries for over an hour, etc... I've repeated the procedure they outlined in the manual over and over, but still no start. I've got a tech support e-mail in to them and hopefully they'll help me out tomorrow. I'm not the original owner, so I'm not sure how that'll play out... Anybody have any experience with a similar Edge scenario? Truck ran great pre-Edge install...bone stock. Disconnecting the unit doesn't help, following the PATS procedure doesn't help, and reprogramming the PCM to 'back to stock' didn't help. I'm pretty sure it's the PATS (anti-theft) causing the issue as there is a fast-flashing of the 'theft' icon after cranking. Appreciate the help...
It probably has an PCM code already in it thats not with that truck. You mit have to send it in for them to reset it for use in your truck. Let us know what they say. And that ain't free.

Edge has great customer support. I had a similar problem with mine so they had to send me a stock writer to get my truck running again. Then, I was able to reinstall my CS. For what it's worth, I use the programmer as a gauge package as I don't notice much difference in the first two power settings. Plus it takes about 10-15 min to reprogram the levels to my truck.
Hope this helps
Update: Just spent about 1.5 hours on the phone with Edge tech support. We tried a bunch of stuff and finally they sent a new 'firmware' update through the Fusion software (on my PC, connected to the Edge via USB). It took about 15 minutes to download the firmware to the Edge computer, then I took it out to the Ex, plugged it in and went 'key on'. The unit backlighting turned Red for 15-20 minutes and said, "Erasing, please wait". When it was done, the screen flashed back to green and I had to go through the PATS procedure again. Truck fired right up. I called Steve at Edge tech support back and thanked them for the time. He was inches away from telling me to tow the truck back to the dealership to reflash the PCM, and he told me that if the firmware failed and we ended up doing that, Edge would 'help me out'. Pretty cool considering I didn't buy the product from them, it came with the truck.
So in the end, I'm essentially using the Edge as a set of 4 digital gauges. The previous owner installed a pyrometer, so I can watch EGT and 3 other parameters. Having spent about 4 hours screwing around with it trying to get it to start, I will not be installing any of the 'tunes' available through the Edge. I'd rather save the time and money I would likely spend on a tow and flash from the dealership to put towards something else right now. Appreciate the help and just wanted to wrap it up...
