Hello all,
This is my first time here so please make fun of me if do something dumb! I have a 1977 F150 SWB 4x4 that had a manual transmission in it. I also have a 1978 F250 extended cab LWB 2wd with an automatic transmission that I am using for parts. I am going to put a C6 automatic transmission into the SWB 77' Ford. I want to change out the steering column so that it has tilt and a shifter. I thought this would be a simple swab, but was wrong. The steering column out of the 78' Ford is too short. My question is did Ford make a steering column for a 4x4 with an automatic transmission that would be long enough to work?
yep. and the tilt columns are sorta rare in the trucks. Try searching for a bronco, it seems like a lot of them had tilt, 4wd, and auto, at least around here.
Back again. Does anyone know what steering columns would be compatabile with the 1977 Ford F150. I am having trouble finding one at the salvage. Would one out of a bronco work?
WELL IF IT´S COMING OUT OF A BRONCO GOTTA BE 78 OR A 79.
Why are you yelling?
