Hi Folks,I have an old '93 E-350 van with the IDI 7.3L and E4OD transmission. Recently it blew a front seal and puked transmission fluid out the dran in the pann under the TC. For some time I have had slipping issues with the lock up TC. We only used the van for local stuff and I seriously doubt if it has gone 500 miles a year for the last five years. So, I just decided to live with the TC problem. When the seal blew I parked it and ordered a heavy duty TC for it because I figured that I would be fixing the seal and there was no better time to replace the TC. Today I got it into the shop and got it up un stands high enough to use the transmission jack. While getting it ready to drop the tranny it occurred to me that I didn't know for sure what fluid was required. I've ownerd this thing since it was new and I still have a all the manuals for it. So, I looked to see what was recommended. The book says the fluid type required is on the dipstick. It's not there. My first question is what fluid is recommended.Another problem I want to look into is the fact that the OD lockout button on the selector lever does not light and does not lock out the OD. I don't know if it is related but the cruise control stopped working sometime around the same time. It's been that way for years but I didn't try to fix it because it was not all that important to me. However, now that I have it in the shop I might take a crack at fixing the problem.
