Concerns about an E4OD

I just picked up a `94 Bronco with E4OD. Previous owner had vehicle for only 2 years and didnt know anything except he couldnt afford to fix tranny. I dropped it and found the front seal was pushed away from pump and had dumped out most of the fluid. Pan was clean, no burnt smell, with usual mud on magnet. Is there a way of checking over the transmission without complete disassembly? I dont mind doing a rebuild on it if something is suspect, but would hate to tear it all apart and find nothing wrong. Any insight or suggestions? Thanks

I got brave and installed a new seal. Man this tranny with Xcase is heavy. Two gallons of fluid later and I am cruising down the highway. Everything works great. Passing gear is excellent. Makes my AOD lame. But I am scared to engage the OD button........

take the trans to a good shop and have them drill out the fluid holes and have them put in a gasket also while its out its a good idea to replace the rear main oil seal on the motor. ive blew out two of them.
it cost me 150 for a shop to do the mod and put in trans seal. witch aint a bad deal here in hawaii. but my trans locks up better than ever.
oh i just took the trans in, not the whole truck.
