6.2 in the FX4?
Hi guys, I'm new here and have a question. Do any of you see the possiblity of the 6.2 being offered in the FX4? I think it would be a great fit and would get better gas mileage in 2WH/4WH version instead of the AWD versions it's offered in now. I know everyone thinks the Ecoboost is wonderful but I still don't trust it yet. Plus, I love the 400 plus HP of the 6.2. Don't want to start a war, just asking a question.

I too would have loved to have had the 6.2L in the FX4. I personally own a 2011 FX4 Supercab 5.0L myself, but if the 6.2L had been offered I don't know if I could have resisted myself. A larger displacement V8 making 400+hp is hard to resist for guys like me. But overall the 5.0L is a great engine and more than enough to move the F-150.
With that said,...Do I see the possiblity of the 6.2L being offered in future FX4 model trucks?...Highly unlikely.
Sadly times are a changing, gas price's are more unstable than ever before, and the government just implemented a new fuel econmy standered which will force automakers to score a fleet avarage of 54.5mpg by 2025...For comparison they only have to score a fleet avarage of 27.5 right now.
The 6.2L is an awesome engine, but I don't think we will see it become any more avalible than it already is...In truth its probably at its peak of availibilty right now. In five or ten years I would be suprised if it is even offered in the F-150 anymore.
I'm like you, I personally would rather have a large displacement V8 over a Turbo V6 for making ton's of power. But despite what we want the automakers have to do what they can to score higher on the new C.A.F.E standerds.
