FX4 meaning
My father was asking me, now that he bought his 2007 FX4 after riding in my 2004 (teehee!)....does anyone know what "FX4" really stands for?? I thought possibly "Ford Extreme 4x4". Anyone out there know for sure?? Just a "wanna know" type question. Thanks!!

option code
I always thought it was the option code for the order form. Just like chevy, if you want the off road package, when you order a truck, you selecet option z71. The sticker on the side of the bed is all about marketing.

Probably someone setting around in the ad department thinking of a "cool" name to sell the off road package...Z71, ZR1, TRD all taken so they settled on FX4.

i thought it was a play on the word effects as in special effects as in a sticker and a skid plate.
