I have a 2009 supercrew that I purchased in February this year. I love just about everything about the vehicle, except for the turning radius. My kids tease me - they tell me I'm trying to park a cruise ship. It seems that the turning radius is a lot less than I remembered. We had a 1998 F150 regular cab that I drove for work at one time that literally drove like a car. I was hoping the 2009 would be the same, but it isn't. Even the 2005 extended cab F150's we have here at work seem to have a tighter turning radius. Is there anything I can do about this? Probably not, but I just thought I'd ask.
SuperCrew is long...even longer if you have the 6.5' bed. Which do you have, the 5.5' or the 6.5' bed length? It's all about wheelbase, well that and the max angle of the front wheels.
That's odd, because sharp turning is one of my favorite things about my '10 SuperCrew. I wheel it around like a car since it drives much smaller than it is.
Maybe it's because my 2002 RAM 1500 crew took forever to navigate into a space.
It has the 145" wheelbase. It just seems to need forever to turn. Otherwise, it's great. Oh, and 23mpg on a recent trip to Florida, loaded wiith 3 women and all the stuff they absolutely need to survive for three days on vacation.
I think your expectations of turning radius are a bit off. You're comparing a SCrew against a regular cab - of course it's going to be worse. I have the worst possible combination - 09 SCrew 6.5' bed - and it's better than my previous F350 CC/SB, and not at all unacceptable for a 157" wheelbase vehicle.
Go find a late 90s Ram, or a 99-02 Super Duty crew cab/long bed to drive for a day or two. Get back in your F150 and you'll think you hopped into a Mini.

It's not the worst. The scab 8" bed has a 163" wheel base.
A co-worker suggested I remove the wheel stops and that would gain me at least 2 more degrees of wheel turn. I would, but I don't like removing stuff that was obviously put there for a purpose - namely, to keep the tires from rubbing in a full lock turn.
The truck has so many other good features; this is just a minor inconvenience.
