My neighbors has an 01 expedition. We noticed he was low on brake fluid and noticed this
We are wondering what this is and why would fluid be leaking out? Another problem we noticed is his rear brakes do not seem to be working at all. It's his DD and there is rust all over the rotor. Could the above leak be causing the rear brakes not to work?
Why not just fill the resevoir up with some DOT 3, start the engine and one of you pump the brakes while the other watches. If nothing oozes at the m/c then look at the insides of the rear wheels and see if one of them is wet
That sort of looks like the style of brake switch that is on the Windstar that has a recall on it for leaking issues. You may want to look into replacing it.
