The Dieselfiltersonline.com has 2 oil filters listed or the 6.0L (FL-2016 and FL-2016W) by MotorCraft, why? Which one should I order? I have delt with them before but don't remember listing for 2 different number.
Other than price, I'm not sure there's a difference. I buy the Raco PFL-2016 from them...which is cheaper than the two Motorcraft filters listed. The Racor packaged filters that they selling are the correct ones...felt ring, patient numbers and top cap. Still not sure why they've got two different Motorcraft listings, maybe PartsGuyEd would know...he sells those "white box" fuel filter kits. Maybe FL-2016W is "white box"
I'm thinking they are the same filter, but the "W" unit is a later revision. The underlying Motorcraft number is the same, except for ending in AB instead of AA, which usually just means a revision.
I just skip those, and buy the Racor PFL-2016 and save the $4.
You're thinking of the fuel filter update. I don't think the oil filter is involved in that change.
The oil filter has the felt ring...and I don't remember hearing about a change to the oil filter either. I think dchamberlain is onto something...a filter not intended for retail sales. Maybe fleet sales?
