302 from 1999 Explorer

Hi all. I have a 1994 Bronco EB. Its in great shape, has a 302 and as we all know, its so underpowered. It has 152k miles on it. I have the chance to get a 302 from a ford expolorer. My plan is to get it and rebuild it, the swap it with the stock 302. I have the e4od tranny. Does anyone know if this will work? Thanks in advance for your help.

The motor itself will work fine, just use your original accessories and sensors.

why? you wont gain a whole lot. drop a 5.8 in there and have a better base to start with. same amount of work with better benifits.

I agree... if you feel as though the 302-equipped Bronco is ill-powered, replacing a 302 with a 302 isn't going to gain you anything but the exact same truck all over again. A 302 is a 302 unless you plan on doing some significant modifications.

Except the GT-40 heads the 302 in the Explorer probably has, which will give you an advantage (yet you could easily just replace your current heads in your current engine).

actually that year would be gt40p heads. these are good heads. issue is you must get P specific headers and run specific plugs and 90* boot wires.

still a 302 though

Like the others have said the explorer 302 won't feel much stronger than your stock motor. The shorblock is exactly the same as what you have now.. same cam and everything, the heads are better so the motor should make a few more ponies but it's TQ that make a big difference in trucks and in that dept the explorer motor is still just a 302. Go find a '94+ 5.8 and you'll have the grunt you crave.
