One of the many things I accomplished today. It comes on when power is going to glow plugs.... As I suspected, they stay on a good while after wait to start light goes out.
Really simple... bought the little LED at radio shack... has two short wires attached. hook one to ground... run the other to the back large terminal on GPR... the one that's not hot with key off.
Should probrobly install a inlime fuse to prevent a short out on the wore leading to the light as well . Myyself being a electrician that was my first thought , I would put a water proof inline .5 amp fuse to prevent shortimg out and burning up GPR , glow plugs ect ... Just my . .02¢ More likely than not a short in that one wire is unlikely but then again anything is possable and I feel to follow the path of safety 1st and if this advice prevent's one powerstoke broke down then I have pleased the PSD god's lol HAPPY MODDING
Nice! Alright weird question. I understand the led shows you how long they're on for...But seems like the longer i wait after my WTS light goes it, the longer it takes to start. Am i just thinking that? Do you wait for your led to go out then start?

I agree, a fuse close to the GPR is a very good idea.
It just lets you know for sure when there is power going to the glow plugs......I don't wait till the led goes out to start the truck... When it's cold out, I wait till the wts light goes out then a few more seconds.... I normally wait till the led goes out before I start out driving, especially when cold.... It's just interesting to watch that led.. hold the rpms at around 1100 or 1200, after a few seconds it starts blinking, the volt gauge begins jumping up and down, corresponding to the led blinking.. then it goes out and the volt gauges stays steady..
Ok I am in the middle of doing this little easy mod. but I can't seem to get the led to work. I have a good ground near the steering wheel. good connections on the power side. But I dont have any power at that post even when the truck is in the power on postion powering the glow plugs. I noticed that the GPR is diffrent. I have a 97 does that make a diffrence The picture is from a 91? any help would be great. also does the LED need tobe grounded somewere other than to the chassis.
IDK why don't ya all just look at the amp gauge, mine just drops like like a rock when the gp's are on, and climbs back up when they turn off. The alternator brings it up too after it starts. If you like lights though, defiantly do the light. just asking
