Like dirty said check for pre-turbo exhaust leaks. crawl under the truck. if you see a bunch of black pre turbo then you found your problem.

i thought you got yours sealed up.

I just got some muffler/tailpipe sealant from carquest. i was going to do it this weekend but decided to wait until i do my exhaust system since i did not feel like taking the DP off to get to the up pipe.

My truck is kinda in the same boat. Most I've seen was 8 psi and that was this weekend pulling a ~4,000 lb trailer up a long incline on the highway. Replaced injectors and IP last year, not turned up, but seems like it would smoke more if turned up more. I have an ATS 093 setup with the 3" downpipe. Stock intake through the grill, I'm wondering if thats holding me back.
Normal cruising I'll see 5-6 psi on the highway, maybe 7 if I'm really onto it. No leaks that I can see.

My 91 with the 093 with custom 6637 intake and 3"dp is wastegated at 13.5psi (pump up 3 flats) Easily hit that unloaded. The intake must have lots to do with it. I have the factory box and filter I might throw on and see the difference

where is your boost gauge tapped in at? On the turbo's port, on the comp housing. Or the intake "snail" hat?

If he does not have a IC, those locations are only 6-8 inches away.

I know. Mine would only read 16psi on the turbo and 23 on the snail. Confirmed with two different boost gauges and two different dynos.

Ok then I can guarantee that is part of his problem. I was baffled the first time I did my dyno pull and the dyno's boost gauge only read 16.2psi

The second dyno shop I went to in washington had the same readings, because they were just tapping into my waste gate tube (WG was welded shut)

After that, I rigged up my boost gauge in cab to the location on the turbo itself. only could get 15-16psi to read off of it... and 22-24psi off of the snail. It is because the boost pressure is lowing just coming out of the compressor housing than it is in the manifold.

Can someone better clarify what you mean by snail hat? I am wondering why I only see 3-4 lbs of boost WOT... i thought maybe they put it in the wrong place, unfortunately i don't believe the PO that it was installed correctly...

the "snail" hat is the intake hat.

That is the round hat that is bolted to the intake manifold, and the turbocharger outlet plugs into it. It is already drilled and tapped from the factory for 1/8" npt for a brass nipple so you can put a boost hose on it.
