service engine soon on

Hello every one i have a 2001 ford f250 7.3l diesel, a couple of days ago was running perfect i parked the truck for about 4 hours when i cranked up the idle was a little rough and the service engine soon light was on i was running the truck and the light when off and on a couple of times when it goes on idle is a little rough and it looses some power, however when i crank it in the mornings the light (service engine soon ) is off and in about 10 minutes goes back on a couple of people tells me it could be the glow plugs a couple of people tells me is a vacuum. i took the truck to the auto parts so they could check it with their computer but when you open the switch to check it with the computer the light wont come on is only when you crank the truck what could be the problem please help me and thank you so much

My guess is that you have a Under Valve Cover Harness (UVCH) come loose. Here's a couple of threads on the subject. It's called around here the 50 cent mod. The harness that passes through the valve cover that feeds the glow plugs and injectors has a habit of coming loose and it's a simple fix - all it takes is a couple quarters or a clip set from the dealer. The harness can come loose but yet be tight enough to run good then run rough as it comes apart again due to engine vibration. Here's some reading:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-cent-mod.html

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...id-i-miss.html

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ck-shakes.html

...And most box auto parts store code readers will not read codes for PSD trucks.
