I started the 50 Cent Mod this evening. I only got the driver side done. I really wish I would have done this sooner as easy as it was! I hope the passanger side is not to difficult. There should be a PIC!! Wow thats a really good PIC!! Now im hyped!

Passenger side is a little tougher getting the bolt out between the valve cover and firewall and valve cover and a/c housing and those darn heater hoses being in the way but it wasnt that bad. It only took me a few more minutes to do over the drivers side.
Great pic!

Edit: you did remember to retorque the injector hold down bolts and the rocker arm bolts right?

I have been wanting to do this to mine. Are the valvecover gaskets reusable or do u have to get new? And what are the torque numbers for the rockers and injectors? Good pic! Thanks!

Came to the party late. What is the 50 cent mod? I am reading that it holds some kind of connector and see that it takes a quarter for each side.

Here is the info you need..
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ck-shakes.html
Also, it is a good idea to check the center pin while doing the fix.. it burns sometimes, caused by the loose connection.
And yes, the valve cover gaskets are re-usable..

The only other thing they are for, is if the engine blows up, you can still say it's worth $.50

Is this one of those things that Ford fixed down the road, or should I do this too? Mine is a 2002 and I have found that a lot of stuff on my truck has been fixed by Ford because its a later model 7.3.

I don't remember the year ford fixed this, but my truck didn't have the clips. I did the Chris-50 to mine.

Mine is a July 02 build and it did not have the upgraded clip holder thing-ma-jig. If you do the mod you will be able to retorque your injectors and rocker arms. Some here have said they noticed a big difference in noise, I didn't notice any.

Mines an 02 and did not have the clips. Drivers side was slightly loose. I'm confident the retorque helped quite down the motor, less rattle.

The guy I purchased my truck from had put new injectors in and did nod torque them. Figure I will do that, replace glow plugs, and throw in 50 cents while I am there.
