Ok, here is the problem for the day. My Dads '01 Ex is not running right yet. He had a tire blow out last year and took out IDM (IDM is out of wrnty). He had it fixed and just recently it would not start when it sat for a while. His mechanic "got it running" and he drove it to work. It would not start again. He has replaced the IDM (it had moisture inside) and now truck starts but will not run smooth. It's like and injector is not working. He replaced IDM thinking it was a defect but still the same. He did the .50 cent mod and replaced CPS. Is there a chance that the injector shorted out from the IDM? Any suggestions would be great.
I am sure you have made sure all connections on top of both heads are plugged in good.Check the wires for frays or broken insulation.May have knocked one of the injector clips off when re-installing the valve covers?
I will have my brother check it out this weekend, truck is in FL and I am in MN. Kinda hard to help from the laptop. He has AE software now so I'll see if he can run that and see what it says. I am thinking he will have to go back in and check for broken wires or loose connections. Thanks!

truck starts and sounds as if it missing on one cylinder, i ran the cylinder contribution and it is showing 5 and 7 are failing p0275, and p0281 balance fault
after trying to find out what was done up to this point it looks like the trucks was having random shutdowns and not starting, with the fuel system being suspected the filters were changed, and symptoms were random still, the 50 cent mod was installed thinking it was the issue it still would not start, then the IDM code was pulled so it was removed and found to be full of water, it was replaced leading to the current situation of missing on cylinder 5 and 7 I also did the buzz test and found that 5 and 7 are not buzzing right, real quiet.
still learning the AE and not sure what other tests could be done, any ideas
OK, I told them to ohm out the injectors at the harness to see if they were still connected. After doing this they found that they were limitless (not connected). They pulled valve cover on pass. side and found two injectors (5 & 7) not connected. I think "someone", aka Chad, forgot to check them before putting valve covers on after .50 cent mod. It is back up and running as I type so thanks for the help!
yep, 2 cylinders were down. but at least i know now that you can ohm out injectors from valve cover without having to remove to verify continuity, although i m still unsure as to how the "buzz test" would give a faint "buzz" sound on 5 and 7 even though they were ohm'ing infinity
AE will give a faint buzz on the other inj so you know its still functioning and that the single inj being tested isn't.
I learn something new everyday.......................................... .......but tomorrow I forgot what I learned two days ago
as an aside I was having a little trouble with the AE software, it was constantly locking up ,and getting the same tests available consistently seemed to be difficult, and when i got the "enhanced" portion to monitor a "live feed" it would not show readings on the "cylinder misfire" counter. not sure what was going on there, it might be the laptop, not the best, i have to get better with the software, it is not fun trying to diagnose a driveability issue with software you are learning also. i was also trying to get the rotational volocities but none of the cylinders would show any numbers only 0
