352 360 swap ???

352 360 swap ???

i have a 352 out of a 1965 ford 3/4 pickup that i was wondering if i could put it in my 1971 ford 1/2 ranger which has a 360 in it ?

Mitchell, Welcome to FTE, Hope to see you around.

The 352 & 360 are both FE "Ford Edsel" family engines, using the same block demintions. The 352 should fit like a glove in place of the 360.

The manual tranny requires a pilot bearing or bushing in the end of the crankshaft that the auto does not. That is the one concern that I am aware of.

If both are manuals or autos no worries.

well the pickup the 352 is coming out of is a manual transmission and the one its going into is an automatic so hopefully it wont be to much trouble putting it in .... thanksf or the info

The pilot bushing will have to be removed from the end of the crank for the torque converter to fit. It will keep the bell for tightening up to the engine and the bell can be broken with continuing tightening, don't ask how I know this.

alright thanks, will the same torque convertor work with the 352 that was with the 390?
