Unhappy Damn Wind

Was sitting at home here an hour ago and my g/f comes home, calls me from her car and asks me if ive seen the tree branch beside my truck. Nope i hadn't and proceeded outside to check. Lo and behold its a larger branch thats fallen from the tree in our backyard and fallen between my truck and my dads. i go and move it from there and go back and check my truck and the mirror is damaged, glass broken and the arm all but broken off. Guess i need a new mirror. Are they hard to change and its an FX4 model with coloured caps, do i reuse the caps or get new ones?

The mirrors are pretty easy to change out might be a good time to upgrade to the newer style tow mirrors if you ever tow anything. But overall the process might take 30 minutes per mirror.

Then you should be able to find standard replacements and have an easy time installing the new ones.

You'll have to remove the entire door panel. The mirrors are bolted on with three nuts behind the mirror. Took me about an hour to remove old mirrors and install new street scene mirrors with one other person helping me. Sorry about your misfortune !

Thx Cam btw Drew do the towing mirrors have pretty much everything the regular mirrors have? (heat and electrochromatics and power adjust and signals). Was looking on ebay and saw a pair of "O.E.M." trailer tow mirrors for around 4 to 450 bucks whereas i priced a new driver side mirror from the dealer and it is 627 bucks plus our HST (13% tax)

Sorry missed this post from the other day. From what I understand yes they have everything the standard mirrors have but you have to make sure you get them that way. On Ebay I saw some were none power and some didn't spec what was on the mirror. When I do mine which should be here soon i just plan on shopping dealers and ford part sellers because they will be more competent in getting what I want. May be more but should end up happier in the end.

Ok got new mirror on today. Not a big problem getting it on but figuring out the door panel was a pain in the butt. The new one is from a 2010 model so i now have to get a passenger side one so they match and they are black. Couldnt figure out how to remove the cap so i guess for now it will stay black. Hopefully the Auto recycling yard can get me the other one before i go away on Sunday.
