i think he meant his GP LED light that he installed
I understand that but still don't know what he means. The GPR operates anytime the EOT is below 131° F. If the LED lamp does'n at least blnk it means the GPR didn't operate or you live in one helluva hot place. If the LED doesn't light it does'nt mean you don't have to wait to start.
When i first installed the led, it lit up. After ripping around (errands)..etc, i got back, let sit for a little bit, then had to go again. When flipping the key, the light didnt work, so my first reaction was, o-sh&^, i ran in, got on computer and hit up the forum...The posting was, in so many words, once the GPR..etc reaches its certain point, the GP'S no longer kicks in/has an effect on startup, sincet he "system is up to temperature..etc, something along those lines.
I did however go out, and when the truck is "warmed up", with the led not on, key turned over, the GPR has its 12+v, just not on the leg for gp's/led light.
If your fishing for a specific reasoning, well, i cannot answer that, knowledge and words of wisdom are limited pertaining to this matter. I'm merely going off of whats been posted numerous times from the more "seasoned' members here and other forums.
We checked all three trucks this morning. Verdict: 1 open GPR, 2 that are dropping 3.5-4V indicating the contacts are pitted and are about to go open like the other 1. Guess I'll be hunting for 3 GPRs today. Anybody tried the one from O'Reillys? Right now they are the only ones that have them in stock - dealer opens in about 30min but I cringe to think what the price will be...
Anybody know the napa p/n? IIRC there's a Napa p/n that is the same as the stancor. Dealer wanted waaaaay to much and I need at least 1 today - don't want my "other half" under the hood w/ a screwdriver. Not that she couldn't do it but I'd rather not have to give her a vehicle that might not start. Wish I could swap the intake air heater relay but can't we removed them from all of our trucks and used the relays as spare GPRs

if changing GP's you should only use Motorcraft.....others have been known to break off in the heads.
Ended up paying the stealer for one - was 34 out this morn. Fired right up. Ordered a couple of the stancor ones from mouser they'll be here monday. It's GPR "season" again
