This has bugged me since I got this truck, so I wanted to know if it was unique to me or not.
On my F150 I had the overhead outside temp, and manual heat/cooling. The temp would seem to adjust/refresh about every 30 seconds, you could see if change going down big hills etc.
On the Ex the temp gauge is in the auto climate control. The temp usually starts out in the morning at the same temp the truck was at when it was turned off. It then can take 10 minutes or more for it to catch up and show the actual outside temp.
In general it's just an annoyance, but on those winter days that it's right around freezing and raining - it's nice to know more than 10 minutes later.
Anybody else have this same issue?
In Fairbanks, Alaska, I used to back out of my +65 Degree garage into -30 to -50 degree temps. I have the same readout on my auto climate control as you do and it would start going down about 1 degree per 3-5 seconds until it reached the outside temp. Not sure what makes yours so slow to react but mine worked quickly. Maybe your connection to the temp sensor is corroded.
I have a 2003 with 7.3 and I have the same issue. I haven't timed it but it takes way too long to adjust to the current temp as far as I am concerned; I find it annoying as well!
