Side mirror questions

Hey everybody, im a 17 year old senior and i just bought a 66 f100 on a 75 f250 4x4 frame. I absolutely love the truck except for one thing. I really want the side mirrors that bolt on the top of the cab and run down the lenth of the window and end up bolted onto the door. The really old style kind yeah? Anyway i cant find them anywhere and i was wonderin if i could get some help as where to look. Thanks all

I believe you are referring to a West Coast Mirror. That style has kinda gone by the wayside. The low mounts took over and don't block as much view.

Google West Coast Mirror, you should be able to see the latest.

There are 2 types..one is a swing lock type...with no 3rd arm stabilizer brace and the West Coast Jr...6X8 head most commonly seen on Camper Special trucks but can be fitted to any 61-66 door.
The swing lock type minus the 3rd brace has a head about 5X12 or so...

If you look through some members trucks in the photo galley area you will see the types of mirrors installed originally...the types shown Garbzz posted links to are similar...the bigger type were used on big trucks...F500 and up for example..the other thing to keep in mind is the arms on the small type shown would need to be different lengths or the mirror head wont be vertical as is desired.

I have some of the 3 arm type if you are interested. If you cant find pics in the gallery of members rides post your email addy and I can email you a couple of pics I have of both installation types.

We have a mirror sticky, look at the top of the first page in this forum....then see post #22.

Both types of Western Mirrors are illustrated along with their part numbers, size of the mirror heads, quantity available NOS.

Other types of mirrors are also illustrated.

Note: The problem with the low mount mirror(s) is...Ford didn't offer them until 1973, so they don't fit the 1961/66's door contour properly.

The stainless steel mirror bracket must be bent to allow the mirror head to sit level, otherwise it sits catty wampus (at an angle).
