EEC-IV code 998
i have a 1995 f-150 with the 5.0 V-8. the check engine light has been on for a while and i found out how to check the code using a 6" jumper wire and watching the check engine light. i am pretty sure that it gave me a code 998 which is supposed to be a fault in the ECT/ACT/MAF/TPR circuit. does anyone know what the heck that means. i have never heard of that before. any help will be appreciated.

998=hard fault present. this is the dreaded "limp-mode". Extensive problems are what normally trip this code. Additional codes will be present with this code.

well after further investigation, doing the test "key on engine off" again, it gave me a code 22. then continuing on to the "key on engine running" test it gave me the dreaded 998 code. i found some more info on-line about the 998 code. basically it said that you must pass the "key on engine off" test with a code 11 before doing the engine running test.
