Power Window Troubleshoot

Got in the truck last week for the first time in over two weeks, and the driver side window would not got down. Passenger side works fine from either side. Anyone know the pinout of the wires on the bottom of the dual switch (common, up, down for the driver side) so I can try to short them together to determine if its the switch or down in the door?

This diagram has the colors of the wires. That's what you will have to use and translate that to the switch terminal position.

Also keep in mind the drivers door switch tends to fail before the passenger's side because its in constant use.

Drop the master control connection block out of the door panel and trade places with the two window switches, see if the problem doesn't follow. If so head to Ford or NAPA and get a replacement switch---less than $30 most times.

Typically the wiring itself isn't a problem----bad switches and failed motors or regulators are much more common.

Thanks for the diagram and the troubleshooting tip guys. Will give this a try when I get some time to work on it.
