300/4.9 Carb

Good Day!
Am lookin for a 300 carb for a 250 motor in a '66 - '77 bronk for increased tq (not hp).

I know the Carter YF and MC 2100/50 were in the 300 but have never seen/measured them.
I am interested in the lowest rise carb for this application due to hood clearance.
I believe my info correct - the bore is identical (250/300) for some.
I have an "offset" air clener housing which sets the air cleaner filter off, over the valve cover, to the pass. side and down beside the engine so I CAN adapt some carbs to the hight of that top flange (plus 5/8ths) that the air cleaner often is mounted to.

Which of the above 3 carbs is the low/shortest in hight? were there other carbs on this motor during it's ~ 30 yr run (esp if 'low rise')? I'm not using 'pane or an efi, but 87 oct. That makes me think... wonder if the throttle body/other late ( ie 4.9) fuel sys was low rise/could B used on the 250 & is good for low rev tq????? 'Nother Q for later I believe (read: "dis guy is short on cash!").

Thank you for your interest/help.

You might have to check with a carb shop or go to an auto parts house, have them pull some carbs off the shelf and measure them.

HHH,
thanks for the reply. I have not seen those shops in this prt of the country.
I now realize the 2 Motorcrafts R 2V so not a low rev/hi tq option. RBS is a low one, flows bettern the 250's carter but is not in a 300 carb's cfm range.
BTW: would your motor take a multi electrode plug w/o harm? would there B any advantages to them?

I have an old YF (I think) that's got a different bolt pattern than my old 300 log had. A wee bit narrower than the 300. If you're interested, measure the carb studs and I'll fetch it out of the shed to see if it matches.

There's no advantage to anything other than Autolite plugs if the rest of your ignition system is working properly.

"Low rise" 300 carb

those extra prongs look interesting tho.

OK, the boar and studs will B measured & I'll let U No. After that, I get back 2 U. Then go ck yours (may B awhile tho). Trouble is, the YF (only 300 carb made then?) is pretty high from bottom of base to top of ac flange/choke horn. Is the 300 YF 7" tall? 5 inches?

Any 1 tryin another after mrkt 1V carb that's really low ( I know after mrkt and 1V don't go together - R in the same world).

FYI, the YF I've got is ~6 1/2" tall at the top of the choke housing and the studs are 2 3/16" apart measured from the inside edge. It's stamped YF 4903S.

the 300 YF is ~6 1/2" tall at the top of the choke housing ( inc 'base plate' to 'air cleaner flange') and the studs are 2 3/16" apart measured from the inside edges (not center to center). It's stamped YF 4903S.
The bore is ~1 11/16"

What more could I need?
Thanks so much.
