Good Day!
Tried the search function w/o aid (covers the whole site, wasn't specific to the 300/4.9).
Not many 170, 200 or 250 owners on here so I'm in the right forum.
I'm lookin for info on the carbs oem for the 300/240. I wish to find a 1v with a "low rise" (hood hight) but am not sure what's available. Wish to make a 250/4.1 a little more tq in low revs (1000 - 3000).
Rumors: the 240 ('65 - 7 F100) had a Autolite 1100 (that's a car carb w/Load-a-Matic and SCV system I'd assume).
maybe the Carter RBS was on the 300 (again I know it as a 250 Maverick carb).
These 2 are 'low rise' (autolite 1/4" better)
***************************************
Fact: Carter YF: bigger than the car YF (not sure of the hight, can U measure?).
They don't seem to know the 300 like U guys (opinion)! Real good on 200 (opinion)!!!
Thought I'd fish here.
How many 300 ci carbs, any kinda low rise models ever on them?
Thanks HHH,
(sittin out the 'cane)
The only stock carbs that I know of on the 300 are the Carter YFs they used in the late 70s and early 80s. At least two versions of those with one for the DSII ignition, and the other for the feedback ignition.
Don't know what they put on them before that.
Three answers, very helpful. Thanks for the 2 varieties, AB.
None others I guess.
Any 1 got a measurement on 300 Carter YF hight?
(IhopeIhope)
Well, good fishin, how bout any others that R 1v (& low)?
If your talking height above the manifold flange where it mounts I could get you some tomorrow, unfortunately I'm having carb issues and Ol Blue is at work where it died .
Hello chrisful, You asked the height of a YF and by chance I have one on my desk.
From bast to feed horn height is 5 1/4".
From the base to the top of the air cleaner bolt bracket is 5 5/8".
From the base to the top of the choke housing is between 5 5/8 and 5 3/4".
It is hard to be exact here on the desk because it does not sit level due to the throttle cable bracket on the butterfly rod.
Hope that helps.
P.S. if anyone need a depot rebuilt and unused YF I have it on the desk. Price is negotiable plus shipping.
unused YF
OK, that's great, Rod. Will down load for measurements later. Not sure if I need the "base". I got a plate on bottom of mine w/2 - 3 nipples for vacuum, not sure they're the same as ur "base". It's not the H2O choke is it?
Thanks for hanging w/me, Mortech.
Seems like the only carb (on the 300) wuz the 2 YF's. I have DSII (from RichardW). So that's the one I need (again, if it fits under the hood).
I'm gonna assume they have the same bore as the 250's.
Back later n thanks.
Actually it was in the way of the semi's that dock at work , its move a little up hill now , I live on company property so its really always on work property LOL
