Use of Diesel as engine flush
A guy at work said he uses a quart of Diesel to run in his oil for 15 min before he changes it for a flush he does it in his gas rigs anyone ever heard of this sounded kinda interesting I know some people don't believe in engine flushes Wich is fine. Just wana hear from people that have done or herd of this.

I've heard of folks doing that on gas engines, I used to put a qt. of trans fluid in my gas jobs & run it a couple hundred miles then change the oil & filt.
I don't do anything but change the oil & filt on my truck, shoot with 4gal of oil in there I doubt a qt of anything would do much good & if you put something in you will have a hard time getting it all out because of the oil system on a 7.3.

I used to work for a guy bout 20 yrs that had us perform this on some of his fleet one ton chevy duallys with gas 350. Not my idea, but he had us fill it up full with 5 qts of diesel and run for about 5-10 min to flush. Then fill with fresh oil. Not sure how much of an effect it had, it was so long ago that i dont remember what it looked like, and i didnt work for him much longer so i dont know how they held up. But yes I have heard of it in a gas engine, i dont think i would do it on our trucks.

I have done it for years on GAS engines only, I usually do it to a new to me used vehicle to clean everything out in case the PO did not keep up on it. Never had a problem, even have done it with four quarts of diesel in a five quart system. Leave the filter with its oil in it on the car and let it idle only, for about three to five minutes then change the oil and filter.

The only thing that I use diesel for besides going in the fuel tank is to flush accumulated oil out of a cooling system that has had an oil cooler fail and it sends a bunch of oil into the antifreeze.
It works GREAT for dissolving that gooey brown sludge that builds up inside the cooling system when that happens.
Last job that happened it was so bad the heater core was clogged up and the heater would only blow cold air.
The diesel fuel emulsifies the built up slime and it runs out with the flush water.
