I haven't had any issues with my egr cooler except having it replaced at 55,000 miles. Now the truck has 110,000 miles..so far so good, but I' like to lower my egt's, and help my hp. I'm running a SCT programmer set to 65hp towing since I tow a 40' lowboy for work. Why couldn't I just install a puck on the egr inlet side, and use the tuner to clear the egr codes.

I think the earliest flash(es) for '05 are like the earlier years, my truck has the EGR valve disconnected, and I don't have a CEL and my fan works fine.

Guys have reported that the Fan didnot work at all fan steps with the valve unplugged

and sometimes the egr deleate wont actully light up the CEL but does have a code there

Can you change the fan setting and turn off the codes with a SCT tuner?
