After a very long and cold winter my 5.4 has alot of dirty, salty residue under the hood. I can't stand a dirty engine.
If i take it to the quarter car wash to spray the engine compartment out will i be messing up any of the electronics or sensors? I will cover up my K&N air filter with a plastic bag.
Washed under my hood once , engine missed and ran like total crap for 4 days , now i keep it clean by hand wiping and take the hood off to wash the insulation and underside of hood . I know its difficult , but safer , just my two cents !
Don't be lazy. Just get a bottle of 409 and a rag and go to work. That water is bound to screw something up plus it will be much cleaner using the hands on method.
I wash my 5.4 ALL the time with a hose and soapy wash water and a long handle brush. I have even used my 2400 psi pressure washer. As long as the engine is cold and turned off you wont have any trouble. I have even disconnected the Neg. terminal just to be overly cautious. After I wash it I blow it out with the compressor. Then throw a nice helping of Armor All on the entire thing and she looks like new.
