What would be the proper way to clean up the under hood of my truck without doing any damage to the electronics? It's not real dirty but for me it is enough. I really hate working on greasy oily parts!
My comments:
First use high pressure air at some distance to blow as much dust and dirt off as possible.
Be awhere that water may get into the plug wells and cause you some hassle.
Use engine cleaner that does not attack rubber.
Then wash down with just enough pressure to clear the surface.
Blow dry to a reasonable degree, then start the motor to finish drying and check for ignition issues caused by water.
Hope all goes well.
Good luck.
I mixed up a large spray bottle of 50/50 Dawn dishwashing soap (good for cutting the grease) and water, sprayed it all over the compartment and engine. Let it sit for 15 min., rinsed it off with a garden hose, NOT(!!!!) a high pressure washer.
Does a pretty good job, but repeat if necessary if you want the engine & compartment spotless.
It's a bit time consuming, but I used a damp rag. Keep rinsing in a bucket of water with a little soap in it. Once it was dry I wiped down the vinyl/runner parts with Armor All wipes. If you have compressed air, do a blow down first.
