I recently got the P1335 code in my 2005 F250 at 60,000 miles and after some thinking I have decided to have a head stud/EGR delete/new oil cooler job done. Will be ordering an SCT tuner this weekend, what are some of the more reputable places to get the proper tunes? Is there anything else I should have done while it's apart? Coolant filter?
If your going to be doing head studs here a great place to get them,Riffraff Diesel: ARP Headstud Kit
EGR Delete Riffraff Diesel: Sinister EGR Valve / Cooler Delete
I would also to the STC fitting update from ford, new oil cooler for sure, clean your turbo while your there. Be sure to use OEM gaskets to not the black onyx gaskets. I would defiantly recommend Innovative for tuning, my 6.0 runs so good with there tunes.
I'd also recommend updating the dummy plugs and stand pipes.
For tunes, I'd recommend Matt Robinson at Gearhead Automotive Performance. I've been very impressed with his SRL tune and I love the way my tranny shifts with the tune. I'm dying to get the SRL+ tune but I've got to get studs first.
Got the truck back, runs great, no smoke, had head studs installed along with a River City EGR delete, Sinister coolant filter and new oil cooler. No more strange smoke. Using an SCT with the canned tunes for now, the MPT custom tunes it came with with a little to aggressive for me. Any specific tunes you recommend? I hear the Gearhead SRL and SRL+ tunes are pretty good?
