356A: 356 = Assembly Plant code / A = First design.
D6TZ-4234-C .. R/L 28 Spline Axleshaft-32 7/64" long / Use with 1/2" backing plate bolts.
D8TZ-4234-E .. R/L 28 Spline Axleshaft-31 27/32" long / Use with 3/8" backing plate bolts.
1979: FoMoCo used two different sizes of backing plate bolts.
FoMoCo Parts Catalogs measure axleshafts from the inside of the flange .. to the splined end.

Anyone know a really good 9 inch rear rebuild? This is my first dive into a rebuild like this and Im going to need good step by steps..
Also, At the end of the axle where i believe the wheel bearings rub against the axle there is what appears to be a metal sleeve/ring. Should this sleeve/ring move? what is this called ?
