Wrong LED.

You have one for 110 volts.

Our trucks are 12 volts.

The one you have has a different value built-in current-limiting resistor.

I ordered the ones linked below and used one of the green ones. Easy install, just press fit into a 5/32" hole in the dash surround adjacent to the WTS light.

This is the Radio Shack LED you need. Part # 276-0270 (Red LED) - they also come in green and amber.

I'd love to tell you it will, but I think the one I told you was 5mm and the one you drilled for was almost half an inch..

I thought I would finish this off and say I got the right light and it was way to small for the hole I had already drilled. So I ended up having to cut the light bulb out of the right light and soldering it into the first light I had. So in the end I got everything to work but made LOTS more work for my self all over and dumb mistake I made. Some times you just have to LOL at yourself!

There always seems to be some confusion about the glow plug system and the wait to start light on the 7.3l Powerstroke. The Wait to start light is controled by the PCM, but has little if anything to do with the operation of the glow plug system. It is more of a timed idiot light then anything. Also, just because the WTS light comes on, this does not mean that the glow plugs or glow plug relay is working.

So a lot of guys install a glow plug warning LED (GPR-LED)...

Here is a quick video that shows the difference between the WTS light and the time that the glow plugs stay on...

YouTube - Glow plug light

To install this LED is very easy, even the most novice electrical guy can handle this in your driveway in about 30 minutes...

First go to your local autozone, Radio Shack or Napa and pick up some 12-14g wire, about 10' is more then enough, and a LED of your choice. They have tons of different kinds, sizes and colors but get one that is a complete unit to make this easy, not one that requires a Diode or Resistor...

Once you are home again pop the hood and locate the Glow Plug Relay (GPR)... It is the furthest back relay if you have a 99.5 and up. Take a look at this picture so you understand the different posts on it...

You want to run a wire from the #4 post into the cab and to where ever you want to install the LED, add a small fuse to this line before you go to the cab (I have not done this, but its good practice).

There is my Red wire for the GPR-LED headed to the cab and up the A-pillar.

For your ground wire, depending on where you install the LED, you can ground it with your gauges, to any metal in the cab or back to the battery (waste for sure!!!)...

Now when ever you turn the key on, and the glow plug relay closes, this light will light up. If your having hard start issues and this is not coming on, well you know your relay is bad... If your having hard start issues and this light is coming on, then you know its not the relay...

Feel free to hit me up with any questions...

OK, now all we need is an article about how to use an (on)-off-on rocker switch to auto/manually control the operation of the GPR.

I installed the 4 gauge pod w/ GPR led from riffraff. After getting everything wired in the GPR led does not turn off, checked the GPR 12 Volts to the constant hot terminal 12 volts to small terminal left (counter clock wise) 4.46 volts to large terminal with LED hooked up, 9.86 volts with LED unhooked, and 0.00 volts to small terminal. Ground for the pod and the LED is a factory ground under dash.
Edit: Oh ya this would be KOEO
With KO power to constant hot only.

I also purchased a Stancor GPR and am having the same problem, reason for purchase (Does there have to be one? LOL)

Update: Tested the the blue wire that is fused and it is reading .75 volts Key off and 9.18 volts KOEO, the wire was not connected to the relay during testing. Is this wire supposed to have voltage with it not connected?

Another test hooked up the power wire and the 2 small terminal wires hooked up the LED wire KOEO no light, tried grounding the relay to click over nothing.

Any suggestions?

The wire going to the led has so be on the large terminal closest to the fire wall. This terminal should not have any power when the truck is off
