Hey fella's, I really want to quiet down my exhaust on my truck, reason being I can't talk to people riding with me or having a decent cell phone conversation without people having to me explain two million times about what I said. I want to go back to stock exhaust except for the headers to save some weight. I would probably get some shorty's(I understand longtubes are better but, I'm not looking to make a racing truck). I checked rock auto and all they have are single in dual out, I want single in sing out. Where can I get this?
It's time to get the whole exhaust system done, I just had to cut the muffler off last night because that was hanging on by some rust(made no difference in sound), and I'm pretty sure the cat should be changed anyways(170k on it), and 98% of the pipes are really rusty.
tl;dr I want to go back to stock minus the cast iron headers. Where and how much would it cost ballpark?
Get the longtubes....Not for racing purposes...But the way I see it, if you're gonna spend $250-300.....Put it on something thats gonna help you (Will give you more torque)...
As for the cat, you should be able to get one from Autozone, etc For ~$65+.......
Then your muffler of choice....And the actual pipe....
Go with a longer magnaflow or borla muffler with tail pipe(s) running all the way to the back of the truck.
My Borla has no drone at all and is very quiet just driving around but when you get on it it sounds pretty nice and that's with headers, no cats, true duals, and side exit.
Id stay away from chambered mufflers if your looking for quiet.

I'd safely say $250-ish...
Exactly. Improved performance and fuel mileage. Win-win in your situation.
Yeah but, the Y pipe needs to be replaced as well. I checked a few places(summit, ebay...) and they're charging about $270 for the y pipe with a cat as one piece. It also has the small tube insert for the air pump.
I can't believe that a complete exhaust system would cost around $250 if I need to replace everything from the headers all the way to the back. If that's possible please by all means, show me where I can get these things.
