Hey everyone, I have a 93 F150 Extended Cab 2wd with the 5.0L and E4OD. Currently it has stock exhaust manifolds, stock Y pipe/cats and 2.25" single exhaust. The system has definitely seen better days and I would like to upgrade it.
I primarily use this truck to run back and forth to work (130 kms round trip, all hwy) and to get lumber, do dump runs etc around the house. 2-3 times a year it gets loaded with 2 quads (1000lbs) and pulls a tent trailer to go camping.
Would I be better off getting some shorty headers, Magnaflow Y-Pipe with the 2 cats and having a single 2.5" exhaust with a Flowmaster/Magnaflow muffler or..
Get long tubes, have a custom y-pipe made, add a single 3-way cat, 2.5" piping again with a Flowmaster/Magnaflow muffler.
I am not really interested in true duals or a single in/dual out muffler. Would rather have a nice flowing single exhaust.
I am just looking for the best combination for my use.
The shorty headers and Magnaflow Y pipe with a nice single 2.5 to 3 inch single exhaust will be a nice upgrade on a stock or mild engine. I suggest Magnaflow or Dynomax muffler.
I have a single 3 inch exhaust with a larger Magnaflow muffler on my truck. There is no way I'd ever put another dronemaster on my truck.
The Summit brand truck shorties are actually Pacesetter brand. They get great reviews on here.
I did go out and put a coat of black paint on the pipe, the muffler has sort of an aluminum oxide finish but my guy sprayed the pipe gray not that it matters given the background but I will be a dressing the surface rust in time.
