visor and spoiler install help
i have a 94 150 flareside with mark 3 package. i love my truck and im always adding parts to make it look different and better. i just got a front visor and a spoiler that goes an the top rear of the cab. i have seen spoilers on other trucks and it seem as if they have lag bolts holding them on to me it looks tacky and im sort of scared drilling lags into the roof on my truck. is ther another way to install this? also i have no idea how to install the spoiler. it is flush with the cab all the way across. any help info or opioms are great and i appreciate it thanks
The visors I've installed had a bolt plate that glued into the center of the roof and then three bolts that went into the door jambs.
Depending on the size and shape of the spoiler, I've seen many that say put with just 3m double sided molding tape. When applied properly that stuff is evil.

it is a factory visor and spoiler that came off a late 80 s or earlier 90 s ford conversion truck. the visor itself seems a little big were it comes over the cab roof itself which i was going to shorten. i thought of useing some sort of 3m adhesice tape but was unsure if something like that would hold the visor with that much force of the wind going underneath of it, the spoiler on the otherhand i would think the 3m would be a good choice. what is a good strong type of adhesive would you recomend? also i can posst pics if it would. thanks for the info
I would want it bolted to the inside of the door jamb just for the torsional stability. You could probably fudge it a little with bit of metal running from under the visor to as far back on the cab roof as possible. I just don't know off hand how to hide it.
3m double sided tape with the red backing, I don't think the thickness will really matter with your project. The area it will be applied to needs to be clean, Dawn dish soap is great for removing wax, but rubbing alcohol is my usual prep. Clean the area to stick to, wet your rag again and wet the tape with the alcohol, it will give you a second or two to get the part into place before it sticks permanently.
