Can I get by without a VSS?
I'm trying to find a different rear axle for my truck because ford quit selling spindles for my axle. If I find one without a VSS can I make it work? I've got an automatic trans.

Nope. Your truck needs the VSS to determine vehicle speed for gear changes...not to mention to run the speedometer.

An automatic transmission will not function for extended periods of time without a vehicle speed sensor.

the transmission uses it to work correctly
