So for the last couple of years I have had near the top of the passenger side at about the same level as the rear view mirror windshield wipers range a 2 inch wide streak that pretty much runs across windshield.
Its not really in my field of view but its kinda annoying and I have as of now changed 4 sets of wipers from various makers and various types with no noticeable change in this gap in the swept area. I'm currently running fresh from the box 20" Rain-X Latitudes.
Could maybe the spring in the wiper arm be weakening and at the moment its only noticeable in this part of the range?
Is it the original windshield ? Can the streak be hand cleaned ? If the answer to either is NO, then it's the glass. Otherwise, the springs could be weak. What happens when you pull the arms all the way back (away from the glass) ? Bad springs often break when you do that.
I had trouble with streaks/missed spots, on a '94 F-150. After trying a couple of the popular brands of refills/blades, I tried a set of Bosch Icon's. The built in little spoiler keeps max tension against the glass, especially at highway speeds. The others sort of floated right off the windshield.
I used to help design auto windsheild wiper systems. Usually, what happens is people grab the arm and "bend" it hoping to fix any issues. That only makes it worse. Once you bend the arm your screwed. That blade has to flex and wipe at "inwipe" midwipe" and outwipe" just right to work for you.
I would get a new arm if I was you and don't bend it any more.
good luck.
