In a recent storm, the drivers side wiper was not wiping like the passenger side.It looked like it was being affected by the wind, making jump a little, would replacing the entire arm resolve this?Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks Chris
Mine did this immediately after changing the blades. Apparently these things have two positions - that which works and that which causes the blade to jump all over the windshield. Try removing the blade and flipping it around on the post. In my case, there is a bevel to one side of the mounting pivot on each blade.. I've found the bevels need to be on the left side of the wiper arm post for smooth operation.
It might also be a blade that is slightly too thick for the blade holder.
Some of the blades are a tiny bit too wide to fit properly in the little fingers of the blade holder/wiper arm. If the blade binds in the holder, it will not form itself to the contour of the glass and it will miss parts of the glass or skip. Take the blade holder off the arm and check that the blade moves freely in each of the little holder fingers. There are something like 6 or more sets of these fingers that hold the blade. If any of them is binding, gently use some needle nose to open up the holder fingers.
Happened to me more than a couple times. I especially have a problem with the plasitc blades that come with the silicone wipers.
