...but the windshield wipers on my '84 f-150 are awful!! I've replaced the wiper blades and this does nothing for it. When I'm sitting still they will clean MOST of the windshield but as I start going down the road the air gets under the arms and lifts them up so that they are only cleaning a small 5'x5' square on the drivers’ side. It's not very fun driving in pouring down rain. I've thought about just trying to replace the arms to see if that does anything but I noticed that the wiper arms for my truck only connect to the blades in one area, right in the center. I was wandering if could get wiper arms to fit my truck that has two connectors. Maybe then it would hold the blades more securely and clear my windshield better.
Has anyone else had this problem?
You just need new arms. The ones you have now are old and the springs are shot.. You can probably get a better set from the bone yard, or may even be able to find replacement springs.
My 86 did the same thing. Lift the arm off the windshield, holding it near the pivot point with one hand. with the other hand grab up near the wiper blade and carefully, slightly bend the arm downward towards the windshield. This will help increase the pressure against the windshield. I did this on mine and it worked like a charm. Remember carefully and don't hog wild on it.

Yeah, i tried that and it helped a little, but like you were suggesting I was afraid I was going to break it. I found some new arms online for $10 each but I wasn't sure if that would fix the problem. Thanks.
