Engine Getting Hot

My truck temperature runs fine until I turn on the cabin heat. Why does the engine temperature rise when I do this?

Are you sure it's not a electrical problem with the gauge? Possibly reacting to the load of the blower fan? I would put a real temp gauge on it from the store before worrying about it, unless you have other signs the engine is really getting hot.

Good point. Normally the engine temp will lesson with the heat on...I'll look into the guage and wiring. Thank you.

Make sure you have a good solid ground connection between the engine block and the body. If you have the factory oil pressure gauge, check to see if its needle goes up with the heater blower on.
