rearend

What are the symptoms of the rearend going out? Will it act the same if water is present in the diff? Seems like my diff is slipping or hopping even going strait...maybe its my tires.

Positive note, i knocked out my DIY oil by-pass today...ya buddy....thanks Springerpop and woodnthings...

Could it be the diff or maybe you added too much friction modifier? I would look at the oil I drain from it to see if there are shiny parts in it and check to see if the teeth are broken but you'd have to pull the cover.

Aklim, it sees as though overnight, it went from being "right" to feeling like the a$$end is held together with 1 bolt? Its not making noise, but then again, not sure if it would make noise, if theres water in it, or something/s letting loose. A buddy of mine, had water in his diff, and all of a sudden, he said that he can smell burning diff fluid. Thats not the case for me....i changed the fluid to Amsoil syn last dec, with 4oz modifier, and alls been good?

i think it might be the "green slime" in the rear d/s tire. I put a bottle in the other day, and think it might have all dried up now, causing an imbalance?

I think it's the slime. Could be you lost a weight on the tire, or drive shaft too. Swap tires from front to rear and see if it goes away.

I think it should be good, at least the fluid. Why would there be water? Did you try to turn your truck into a U-boat or something? There is a vent hose but it goes pretty high up in my Excursion. If it got that wet, something must have let loose. You might have gone into some deep water and it seeped thru the seal. Just hashing ideas.
