We've had this truck for about 2 weeks and been using the old hand signals 'cause I couldn't figure out why the tail lights would stay on everyone telling me brake light switch turn signal switch. Benn tearing eveything apart and putting back together my 4 year old was sitting in thhe drivers seat and pushed in on the headlight switch and the taillights went out! So do I need a new switch or what am I missing?
Hey partner you gotta slow down and say what the lights are doing- 1 is your ign. switch on when you are troubleshooting? 2 if you remove the 2 wires to your mast. cylinder and jump them out, what happens? 3 when your headlites are on and you reach under the dash and jiggle the bottom of the h/lite switch, what happens? 4 dont let the child drive w/ no liscense

There are two positions on the headlamp switch. Pulling the **** out to the first position turns on the parklamps and taillamps.
Pulling the **** all the way out (to the second position) turns on the headlamps, the taillamps stay on, the parklamps turn off.
If the switch was in the first position and its **** was pushed in, the lamps turn off.
OK with the key off and headlight switch in off position the tail lights are still on(the only time their off is when you take the bulbs out or disconnect them). The lights on front work right one pull parking lights on, 2nd position parking lights off headlights on. With the key on I turn on the blinker and the other filliment blinks on the tail light so its not a brake light switch.? Being a "newbie" to the '65 my ignition has to be on for the brake lights to work, is that right? And she's just practicing going to Sonic and getting a chocolate shake.
