Hi all, I changed the headlight switch today in my '92 and still no headlights. All the fuses are good also. Was a problem where the lights would go out and if I smacked the dash they would come back on so I assumed it was the switch. Now I get nothing unless I hold the high beam on, The multi-function switch on the column, if I pull it back and hold it then I have light other than that nothing. All my marker lights etc are working. Could the multi-function switch be the problem?
Sounds like the trouble is in the dimmer portion of the multi-function switch. The only other possibility would be a burned fusible link, but since you can get lights by pulling back on the MFS, then it's gotta be the switch.....
Thanks for the input I will look into it. Any idea if this one is difficult or not? The switch in the dash only took me about 45 min. this about the same?
I'd expect them to be similiar to an Explorer's switch, and they're extremely easy to replace. Just remove the plastic trim pieces, unbolt and unplug the switch, and replace.
