I posted in the truck specific forum but I figured I might get more help here in the motor specific one instead..
I'm putting a 360FE into my 1950 F1. The exhaust is looking like it's gonna be a difficult fit. The stock 'log' manifolds would fit pretty damn well but are gonna flow like crap considering the motor is freshly built with a cam, carb, intake and a few other goodies.
There isn't a whole lot of room to run long tubes, are there any manifolds or headers out there that dump in very similar locations but offer a better flow? I know there was cast headers but they don't come real cheap... :S
a couple of the guy's have done fenderwell headers ,I think they look great ..someone will let you know other options ..got pictures??
Fenderwell headers were another option for me to consider, but then I'd need some shorties that come out parallel to the ground... I don't think they exist do they?
It's going to be tough to do. I think you'll have to make you're own fenderwell exits. Which isn't too hard if you've got a bandsaw and are a competent welder. I don't know if anyone makes a fenderwell exit for an FE anymore. If someone knows of one please share. I'm about to make some fenderwells for my truck.
What do the guys in the 50s forum with FEs do for exhaust? Just use the manifolds?
You might PM maxtor. He is the only one here that I know of with fenderwells (in his Falcon).
The only off-the-shelf thing I can think of that might even be close are the Sanderson FF427 headers. They are listed for "53 and up F100 pickups" and I just picked up a set for my Camper Special. I got the uncoated ones because I'm cheap. Quality looks good, I'll have a post up here someplace in a couple weeks with some good pics of fitment, but probably won't help much for your '50
