I jsut bought my first F250 and my first deisel. I have a question. When I step on the gas from a dead stop it seems like there isnt very much power off of the start until the boost for the turbo rises. I mean if I mash the gas from a dead stop it accelerates slowly until the boost comes up. But if I slowly push the pedal down, then the boost rises faster and it accelerates faster then if I just mash the pedal down. Is this normal, or is there something I should look at?

It's completely normal. You might learn the "2 footed" method of driving--giving a little fuel while holding the brake--helps. As you've already learned, rollng into the throttle is much more efficient than just stomping on it from a dead stop.
