Gentlemen, here's my first post (of hopefully many to come).
I just recently installed 3 gauges and I'm curious about my boost activity. When I get on the throttle, instead of a nice steady increase in boost from, say 4 to 14, I'll often get a steady increase from 4 to ~10/11 and then it fluctuate at that point. Almost like it's opening and closing the wastegate, unable to make up its mind. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm a real coward and have not just put the pedal to the floor to see what happens; I'm usually 4/5ths to 6/7ths into it. Then I somewhat chicken out as my RPMs get near 3200 and my Pyro gets near 1300.
Is the computer just fluctating my boost because that's all I need. Did I pipe something wrong (no leaks)? Or MUST I get my foot all the way to the floor?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Floor it!!! Part of the normal diagnostics for oil aeration have you run at WOT (wide open throttle) in park/neutral for three minutes...you're ok, hammer down and enjoy!
What year is the truck and what mods are done to it? 14 psi is low even for a stock truck, and you should never see the needle fluctuate on the boost gauge.
2002 F350 (auto) 7.3, no other mods except the OEM-AIS and my guages. Oh, and the SuperChip (duh). It almost acts "confused" between the powerplant and the trans.
Are you serious? - that you can run these things TWO without harm to the thing? especially the turbo impeller blades? I thought you weren't supposed to cook these things over 1270degrees?
If you are running the truck with the Superchips you should invest in a after market pipe with a larger downpipe. The will help the EGT when your flooring it with a chipped truck or using a tuner.

with the chip you should be getting more boost than 14psi. should be 20+ depending on the tune of the chip. first thing i would do is start looking for leaks. on either side of the engine are the intercooler tubes(silver tubes about 3" in diameter) on the ends of those are rubber boots that attach the tubes to the turbo, intercooler(in and out) and the intake. those boots will sometimes leak, check for holes in the boots and, tighten all 8 clamps(the ones on the intercooler are kind of hard to get to) then try in out. if that does not do it we will have to look elsewhere
do not run the egt over 1250* for any extended amount of time
oh yea welcome to FTE

I'm not sure what you're asking in that last part? 1250 is considered to be the "normal" operational limit, but you can go well past that....very briefly, and it won't hurt it. With an 02 with a Superchip you should be seeing at least 20 psi on your boost gauge. You should make 17-18 psi stone stock.
Where is your boost gauge tapped in? Have you checked all it's connections?
I just installed my gauges and my boost pressure will run up to 23-26 when I get into the throttle, 4th gear 60-65 then shift to 5th (m/t), boost returns to 6-10 and crusing at 70-75. EGT when getting on it reaches 900-1100, cruisng appox 575-600. Truck is stock with AIS added and Quadzilla Stealth Module set on 40 hp mode. No black smoke from exhaust. Use stanadyne (8 oz) every 3rd fill up.
I tapped it about top dead center on the driver's leg of the Y, just before they become one pipe in front of the turbo. I plan to go through my entire length of teflon tubing and intercooler piping to make sure there aren't any leaks. I thought I was supposed to run 15-17 under FT, 25+ sounds WAY high to me (but, admittedly, "I know nothing, nothing" as Shultz used to say).

my gauge only goes to 25 and i can bury it at wot. i am running about 28-30 psi. the powerstroke handle up to about 40psi. if you go higher than that you would want to o-ring the heads and beef up the bottom end.
