I have to get into the valve covers today. I have listened all over the motor and can not here the ticking noise. I'm going to guess, push rod or maybe lifter. Question, can I replace a lifter form just the removal of the valve covers or do I have to remove some kind of valley cover and HPOP to get excess. I never did a diesel but I know I would have to remove an intake manifold on a gaser. I've been putting this off but can know longer stand the noise when warmed up. I would like to go to wyoming this weekend and know it will take me a week to finish. My health has slowed me down considerly. God bless, Chet
Chet, you should've shot me a pm/email, as to when/where you were attempting this. I would've ordered some pushrods as well, and us both could've tackled this endeavor. CANT STAND THE TAP, either.
Thanks Tim, I'm waiting for the feed guy to come for the wife and I am going to clean the garage out so I can pull the front end in to get started. It mit be a day or so but I intend to find out. Chet
