Just got done doing a complete Bullet Proof Rebuid on my 2004 F-350 6.0 PSD. When I went to start the truck all it does is turn over and does not fire. I know this could be cause by a million of different things with how much work I did, but any common places to start? I am completely lost at this point.
pull the fuel filter on top of the engine see if its full of fuel 1st.Then it might take 3-4 tries cranking it over for 30-45 seconds. As to not burn up the starter motor
I put in a Bullet Proof Diesel oil cooler system, Replaced the head studs with ARP studs, new head stands and dummy plugs, new head gaskets, upgraded the fuel regulator spring, and replaced my entire cooling system with new radiator and hoses. I am headed over to try starting it again now. I didnt give it as long as you guys sugested, afraid i might do some damage to the engine
The starter will be fine, lay into and keep cranking, make sure the batteries are at full charge. If no start, you have a leak in the high pressure oil. On start up the truck will take a few days to work the air out of the system and your normal start times will be longer than usual.
I hope you filled as much of the bulletproof cooler, filter, lines, and HPOP reservoir as you could. If not you're going to be cranking a LONG time. 30 seconds if probably as long as you really want to crank before you let the starter cool for a while. Also, put a charger on the batteries and keep them hot.
just start and cool start and cool. but do short intervals for about 5 or so times and then let cool for awhile and then go back at it. its gonna take a long time for it to start like partsman said
Alright, Got the truck running!!!! I did fill the bullet proof system with oil as well. Now I'm just working on flushing out the rest of the oil from the cooling system from when my oil cooler failed. The only issue is I am heaing a louder than normal whining sounds when I drive it down the road. Once I get it to about 2k rpm its start and continues to whine until i let of the throttle. It sounds similar to my turbo kicking in just a higher pitch, really hoping its not something with the turbo. Any suggestions?
