Not normally. But a GOOD upfitter will include one if extensive idling will be done. They are more standard on medium duty and big rig trucks.

Yes. Press the trip button on the dash and it should cycle to Eng Hrs and read out just like mileage does. Our 06 wasn't set up any type of special other than as a cab and chassis and it has one in the stock gauge cluster so I can't imagine that anything around 05 or newer would be without.

I was in vernon at a friend burning a deck.... It was scrap so its ok. Then i ended up in ellington fixing a brake line at 12?? Wtf right? Dennys in enfiled at 1, drove around the state till 6am... slept till 730. (in my truck.) went home..... After my mom thought i died. Saw 2 crashes on the highway. (almost in one) put in a door at my grandmas. And from 1-6 i dont even know what was going on.

Really. I'm guessing they started when they redid everything in the cabs in 05. I didn't know it was a real thing until 06 when we took delivery of that truck and I was in it in the parking lot waiting for the dealer paperwork to be done and was playing with the button and found "eng hrs" as a readout. The truck had under 1 hour on it at that point... 7 miles. It's now just over 1,000 eng hrs and ~37k miles.

Have you tried the gauge cluster diagnostic mode on the 05+ trucks? Is it any better (more info) than the 99-04?
