I have searched,so before anyone tells me about the search button, I have used it.
My question is how many have swapped in an IDI (6.9 or 7.3) into a 2wd dentside? I am not looking for info on a cummins swap as I dont have one, I do however have an IDI non-powerchoke. Not trying to be rude, just not interested in hearing "you should swap in a cummins".
Thank You for any info
BTW it will not be turbo'ed
As long as you can fab the motor mount perches, you should be good to go as long as you are not using an E4OD trans. C6 or ZF5 will not need any wiring, and the engine only needs 12V to the injector pump in order to run.
I was thinking about the same thing for quite a while: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...questions.html One member here has two trucks (both 2wd) with IDIs that he swapped in himself. His user name is 1967 Turbo 6.9
Thanks guys. I am also gonna be checkin out the van front spindles and doing some measurements(king pins, tie rods,etc...) to see if I can switch to front swteering to make fitting it easier.
67turbo6.9 is the guy to talk to he helped so much with the 6.9 turbo conversion on my 79 supercab 4X4 both of his trucks are 4X2s... as for the van slpindles how are you goona connect a rear mounted box to front mount steering????
