Surprised you haven't found this info because I think the title you picked has been seen at least fifty times in the last five years.
Check my gallery for a parts detail of a typical tailgate. The inspection cover needs to be removed. From there you can access the ends of the regulator arms that half the bottom of the glass. Either remove the tracks from the glass or pop the glides off the ends of the regulator arms. This will free the glass and allow you to slide it up by hand. Be ready to catch the glass out the top of the gate. Once the glass is out you can deal with just about everything in the tailgate.
There is some info on the FAQ site in the Read first at the top of the Forum.
If you remove the old motor the regulators will spring up and the window will come up. Im not sure how far up it'll come. You don't want it all the way closed as then you can't open the tailgate.
Otherwise you'll have to stick a board or something in there to hold it up.
